Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy can bring up questions, particularly if you haven’t worked with a therapist before. Here are some things you might want to know before getting started.
If there’s something you’d like to ask that isn’t covered here, you’re very welcome to bring it to our initial consultation.

Finding the right therapist is important. Therapy is a relationship, and it’s important that you feel able to be open, feel understood and explore difficult things at a pace that feels right for you.
I offer a free 20–25 minute consultation before we begin, giving us an opportunity to talk briefly about what you’re looking for and helping you get a sense of whether working together feels like the right fit. There’s no obligation to continue.

Being trauma-informed means recognising that difficult experiences can affect not only how we think and feel, but also how we relate to ourselves, other people and the world around us.
Rather than asking, ‘What’s wrong with you?’, we can become curious about what you’ve experienced, how you’ve adapted, and what might have helped you cope at the time.
My approach draws on research-informed, trauma-sensitive methods that support the careful exploration and processing of difficult experiences, with an emphasis on minimising the risk of re-traumatisation. We work collaboratively and at a pace that feels manageable for you, prioritising your sense of safety and emotional capacity throughout.
-
I’m an integrative psychotherapist, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches rather than following one model with everyone.
My work is relational and trauma-informed, with somatic approaches woven in where appropriate. Depending on what brings you to therapy, we might explore your history and relationships, recurring patterns, difficult emotions in the present, or what you notice happening in your body as well as your mind.
We work collaboratively, adapting the approach to your individual experiences, needs and pace.
-
Individual therapy sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly.
We can discuss the frequency of sessions in relation to your circumstances, needs, and what you’re hoping to get from therapy.
Therapy can be short-term and focused, or longer-term, allowing space for deeper exploration and ongoing support. The duration will depend on your individual needs and what feels right for you.
-
I offer in-person therapy in North West London and online sessions via Zoom, working with clients across the UK and internationally.
Online sessions offer the flexibility to access therapy wherever you’re based. We can discuss which format feels most comfortable and appropriate for you.
-
You don’t need to know what to say, understand exactly what’s wrong, or have a clear goal before you begin.
Our first conversations are an opportunity to start making sense of what’s bringing you here. We can take things at your pace and work together to explore what might be helpful for you.
If you’re unsure whether therapy is right for you, that’s absolutely fine too. We can talk through any questions or concerns during the initial consultation, with no obligation to continue.
